Payment Processing
What it does — Housr uses different payment providers across different parts of the platform to handle transactions between students, partners, and the business. Each provider serves a specific purpose depending on the product area and when it was built.
Who uses it — Students (making payments), Brand Partners (receiving payments), and Admins (managing finances)
How it works
Housr currently uses three payment providers:
RyftPay
RyftPay is Housr’s primary payment provider for all new projects. It handles card payments with support for split payments, where Housr can automatically take a percentage fee from each transaction. RyftPay is used across the platform’s newer features, including event ticketing.
Finix
Finix is used on the Housr website specifically for perk partner payments. When a transaction is involved in a perk partnership (such as a student purchasing something through a partner offer), Finix processes the payment.
Stripe
Stripe is used in the Housr Portal for legacy payment processing. Older billing and payment workflows that were built before the move to RyftPay still run through Stripe.
Which Provider Is Used Where
| Provider | Where It Is Used | Status |
|---|---|---|
| RyftPay | New features across all products | Active — all new development |
| Finix | Perk partner payments on the website | Active — specific use case |
| Stripe | Portal legacy payments | Legacy — being phased out |
Where it lives — Website, Mobile App, and Portal (varies by provider)
Regional availability — UK and US
Payment processing is available in both markets, though the specific providers and configurations may vary.
