Glossary
Key terms used across the Housr platform.
Agent — A letting agent or property manager who lists properties on Housr. This is primarily a UK term, where letting agents manage student rental properties on behalf of landlords.
Bills Package — A bundled utility package covering gas, electricity, water, broadband, and TV licence, offered through the Housr app. Students pay one monthly amount instead of managing multiple providers. Available in the UK only.
Boost — A paid feature that promotes a property listing to more students. Agents can boost their listings to increase visibility in search results and on city pages.
Concierge — Housr’s bulk enquiry management system. When multiple students enquire about properties, Concierge routes those leads to the right agents and ensures timely follow-up.
Drop — A push notification campaign sent to a targeted group of students. The Housr team uses Drops to promote events, perks, or important updates to specific audiences (for example, students in a particular city).
Explore — The main discovery screen in the mobile app. Explore shows properties, events, and curated content for the student’s selected city, serving as the starting point for most activity in the app.
Perk — A discount or deal from a brand partner, redeemable through the Housr app. Perks are organised by category and give students access to exclusive offers from partner brands.
Portal — The internal admin and agent management tool. The Housr team uses the Portal to manage properties, users, events, perks, bills, and all other platform operations. Agents also access the Portal to manage their listings and respond to enquiries.
Property Feed — An automated import of property data from a letting agent’s or property operator’s own software into Housr. Feeds keep listings current without manual data entry. Examples include Jupix and BLM feeds in the UK, and Entrata in the US.
Property Operator — The US equivalent of a letting agent. Property operators typically manage larger apartment complexes and student housing communities near universities.
Rideshare — A feature that lets students organise shared trips between cities. Useful for travelling between university and home, or between campuses.
Roomie — Housr’s roommate matching feature. Students fill in a profile with their preferences and lifestyle habits, and Roomie suggests compatible housemates. Available in both the UK and US.
Token — A reward currency that students earn and spend within the Housr app. Tokens can be earned through various activities on the platform and redeemed for rewards.
Viewing — A scheduled property visit arranged between a student and an agent or property operator. Students request viewings through the app, and agents confirm or suggest alternative times through the Portal.
Wallet — The in-app section where students store their tickets, tokens, and payment methods. The Wallet brings together everything related to a student’s transactions and rewards in one place.
